We are now approaching the spiral staircase, which is in fact composed of two sets of stairs.

One set has 119 steps (next to the library) and the other has 118 steps (close to the current refectory). 

 

These spiral staircase are unique, due to the fact that it does not have a central axis. Instead, the stairs are superimposed and compressed against the side walls, which creates a beautiful effect when we look down.
